Windows 7 brings in record sales for Microsoft
The world’s largest software maker Microsoft posted record fourth-quarter revenue after the most successful debut of its Windows 7 flagship operating system. Sales were up 22 percent to $16 billion, the largest gain in over two years topping analysts’ expectations in both revenue and profit.
Expectations were high as both Apple and Intel reported record sales and overall blowout quarterly results.
Microsoft said it has sold 175 million copies of Windows 7 since the program’s October release, the fastest pace for its main operating system ever.
Windows 7 is the first fully new operating by Microsoft that was welcomed by the market since the launch of Xp. After a failed Windows Vista operating system turned even more Microsoft users into Apple Mac fans, it’s now got a chance of winning back trust.
Easy to use interface, reduced error messages, user friendly navigation between open applications and a fresh look and feel couple with a multi million dollar apple style educational ad campaign helped Microsoft to come back in style and make record sales once again.
